The assumption made in calculating the height of an object is that the angle subtended at the user while pointing the phone at the top of the object can be obtained accurately.
In general, if you divide a person's step length by their height, the ratio value you get is about 0.4 (with a range from about 0.41 to 0.45). A value of 0.42 was used.
The user will take a number of steps from the object and count them accurately. If the pedometer is used to get the number of steps care must be taken whiles doing this - every hand movement counts.
